Well I'm truly exhausted. Yesterday was a marathon day of packing up and disassembling the whole shop. Every corner of my house is full of shelves, coat hangers and stock...as well as the general mess that surrounds me everyday.
I have a heap of paperwork to go through, EOFY stuff to finalise and a house to tidy, so I'll be taking a little blogging break for a couple of weeks to get myself organised again. The family is heading off on an adventure in Hong Kong (will blog pics if i have WiFi access), and when we get back I'll be getting new stock ready for my next big retail event Sheepvention! Yes, it's a real thing, more info when I get back from overseas...

So to clear the last Sale items on Poppet in the Post, I'm offering a further 10% off everything! Just type CLEAROUT at the checkout. Valid till 15th July. Orders placed between 3-13 July will be posted on the 14th.
If you think you wont survive that long without me, don't worry! You'll still be able to catch me on twitter and my other blogs...See ya on the flip side!

It's been fun...

With only a couple of days to go before the doors close, I just wanted to say 'THANKS'.
Thank you for supporting me in my creative and business endeavours for the last 3 years, especially my regular customers, who I know will be sad to see me go. I will miss you all too.
I have made so many amazing friends through My Poppet, it's been wonderful getting to know you all. Please don't be strangers!
I know this is not the end of my little business, it's just taking a slightly different journey to what I had planned. I'm looking forward to the next stage, onward and upward I say!

It has for the most part been a fantastic learning experience for me, running a retail business is not all fun and games. Some things I will do different next time, there is always room for improvement, but overall I'm happy with the experience I've had.

So in 3 years I/we have, been broken into twice, had 5 fantastic staff members, sold thousands of brilliant products, found a gold tooth in a bag of change, had a lady pee herself in the shop (bless!), met hundreds of new babies, written 376 blog posts, started tweeting, have been swindled by an unscrupulous supplier (Amy Salisbury of GG and Me, you suck!), paid lots of taxes, had a beautiful baby girl, spent hours in front of MYOB, and had 2 shelves fall off the wall...amongst other things...

So if you want to say goodbye in person, I would really love to see you. Saturday is our last day, I will be there from 10am onwards...After that you can find me on this blog, at an occasional market day and on Poppet in the Post.

It's been fun
xx

Giveaway...are you a fan?

I love seeing fan photos on my facebook page...this one was posted by Lou of Buttons by LouLou of her son wearing his gorgeous Monstar racer bike tee. He looks like he's having a ton of fun on the Hills Hoist (I used to get in so much trouble for doing that!).

So to celebrate having over 200 likes on the fan page I'm having a giveaway! On offer is a pack of 5 Japanese Paper Balloon animals.

You can enter in 4 different ways-

1. Become a follower on this blog (1 entry)

2. Become a fan/liker on the facebook page (1 entry)

3. Post a fan photo of something My Poppet related on the facebook page (no spam please) (2 entries)

4. Tweet about the giveaway, use the @mypoppetshop tag so I know (1 entry)

If you do all four you will have a whopping 5 entries, yay! And as a special bonus I'll giveaway an extra pack of balloons if we get to 300 fans (so tell your friends).

I will draw the prize on the shops last day 26th June, so get snapping, tweeting and clicking!

FAQ...

I've had numerous requests for this dress that was featured in Small magazine. Unfortunately my supply of this beautiful vintage fabric has all been used up. I'm happy to make custom orders of this dress in the same pattern but in a different fabric. You can pick your own colourways, I have other border print fabrics that would look super cute also.
The price for this custom made dress is $64.95 available in sizes 2-6

Thanks

A new critter...

def: serendipity - noun /ˌserənˈdɪpəti/
the fact of finding pleasant or useful things by chance

By a random act of good fortune, I was wrong sent these adorable raccoon paper balloons instead of the bulldogs we have stocked in the past. So now these are available for sale in a set of 5 characters which also include, panda, tiger, monkey and fish.
You can also buy the panda, tiger, monkey and fish balloons individually.
Sometimes when things go wrong, they go right!

Manual...

I've been messing about with the manual settings on my camera after reading this amazingly well explained tutorial found via Craft Gossip. Even though I took photography as a subject in high school (and did most of Mr Cinti's architectural photography assignments) I never really 'got' a lot of the technical stuff. I suppose i passed the subject through trial and error and a bit of luck. Cameras are so fancy these days that I've let the AUTO function do most of the work until now. But I'm often disappointed with the results in low light, when the flash seems to want to pop up all the time or editing needs to be done later...So here are my first attempts...I hope to improve with practice.A lazy morning in our pyjamas, the house a bit dusty and Emma a bit beaten up after a rumble at creche!
She's meant to be wearing her glasses, but they mostly end up on the floor...(and since these pictures, were sat on and are off getting repaired!)At least here doll Memma is a good girl and wears her specs...

♥ Small ♥

A lovely surprise in my inbox this morning, the Summer issue of Small magazine...and after much anticipation I was excited to see some of my handmade garments featured. Yay! It's always a little surreal when I see something I've made with my own hands in the kaos of my sewing room, photographed so beautifully and look so, um, fantabulous! All of these garments are one of a kind. Some a still available to purchase others, like the red dress featured below, have sold a long time ago...I'm happy to take custom orders if you would like a similar garment made.
The Tea Party dress and green Retro Shorts were featured here on the Smaller blog. If you squint you can just make them out...hehe!
This issue is also packed with other fantastic stories, illustrations, products and projects. My favourite is a small film called City Mice...delightful.

Important dates...

I've finally set a date for the official shop closing...Last trading day will be Saturday 26th June. I'll be working that day and will probably stay open a little longer than normal. I may also bring a bottle of bubbly along to celebrate the occasion. I would love you to come and say "hello/goodbye" because I'm really going to miss you all. Online is fun but it doesn't compare to watching your kids grow up, rubbing your pregnant bellys' and generally gas bagging for hours.
At the moment the trading hours will remain the same until the last week when I'll only be opening on Tuesday and Thursday. Will update you with details closer to the big day.

The My Poppet web pages, online shop and blog will soon be getting a little revamp so watch this space...
