It's begining to look alot like Christamas...

Spent most of the day yesterday unpacking my long awaited delivery of toys for the Christmas season. I had so much fun shopping for these lovely things that I loved as a child.
These cars are from France and made by a company called Vilac who has been producing wooden toys since 1911. You'll see more of the range in the next few days
And who can resist these very festive Russian dolls?

Turning Japanese...

'I got a bit carried away with the exposure gizmo on the photo editing software today' she says whilst reaching for her sunglasses...
Lovely new pillows by the girls from Vintage Modern (no blog), who took a trip to Japan recently and brought back some very fun fabric. I have a feeling that these will sell fast...
I nearly forgot to update Poppet in the Post today, silly me!

What's New Pussycat?

Well it seems that every school in the country is having a fete/cake stall/boot sale today, being election day and all...how can one resist a cupcake/sausage/lamington (in my case all three) while waiting in the queue to vote.

And lucky for me you can do an absentee vote if you are not in your electorate that day...it's like being in two places at once.

Interview with Mrs Rex...

Q. Mrs Rex, you seem so grumpy, what's the matter?
A. It's because my arms are too short to reach the remote control. Mr Rex insists on watching 'Farmer wants a wife' and it's driving me to extinction!
Q. But television hasn't been invented yet!
A. I know that, you know that, but try telling him that! Oooh, does that look like a giant asteroid about to collide with the earth? At last, something interesting to watch...

Press...

Yay, was really excited to see that the article written by Karen Wood about one of my favorite artists Tamara Maguire was in today's Herald Sun HOME magazine. Tamara's work has already developed a following amongst My Poppet customers, so much so that I've ordered new prints to meet demand. I'll have 2 new designs available next week, along with the brilliant ones on display in-store.
If you haven't had a chance to pick up the Herald Sun today, you can click on the image to read the article.

A few of my favorite things...for today

I don't know if listening to the Sound of Music Soundtrack in the shop is such a good idea. I find myself singing along to every song, the customers must think I'm going quite batty! But how can one not yodel along to 'The Lonely Goatherd'?

Give me a Huggalug...

How cool are these Leg and Arm Huggers by Huggalugs

Designed to keep little legs and arms warm at all times:
-under pants or under skirts
-no pants or no skirts
-just a nappy or no nappy
-under tops, over tops or no tops at all
You can also use Huggalugs Leg and Arm Huggers as a light weight accessory to help prevent kid’s arms and legs from becoming dinner for those darn mozzies. For extra protection give them a light spray of repellent after putting them on. This is especially good for sensitive skin.

And even better…
MADE IN AUSTRALIA!

And because I'm feeling super generous...till the end of the month I'm giving a 5% discount on Huggalugs (in-store purchases), just mention the blog for your discount...

I'll be offering for sale one product line a week that is super special/unique/handmade and easy to post, and remember stocks are limited so if you like something get in early.
Have fun shopping!
xx Miss Cinti

Something's gotta give!

WARNING - The following post contains images that may disturb some viewers (especially my mother-in-law...Hi Glenda...)

People/Customers often ask me "Cinti, how do you do it all? Running a business, sewing for the shop and markets, running a market stall and still working a day a week in your only paying gig serious career?"

Well here's my answer people, brace yourselves for the mess that is my home...it's obvious that i can't do everything!
This is my dining table...we eat off the coffee table now, Japanese style...
I'm too scared to go into my kitchen...hopefully the cleaning fairy will visit my place for Christmas and I can have at least one or two days of clean dishes.
So when you are all feeling a little bit envious of all those blogs with lovely clean and beautifully styled 'corners of my home' posts, feel comforted to know that their dining table probably looks much like this one, just didn't bother to take a picture...

inspired...

I set myself so many tasks this weekend, and of course i didn't even finish half of what i had planned to complete!! And between a wedding, a full days work and lots of Melbourne cup day commitments, my 'long weekend' was whittled down to a few short hours of free time.

I did manage to squeeze in some inspired sewing...and made 3 dresses with some vintage scarves from my ever growing collection.
They are reversible, so the picture above shows 2 dresses, front and back. I really loved how they turned out. I didn't use a pattern so the sizing is very flexible- maxi dress on a 3yo to a mini dress on a 7yo. They can even double a an adult size top! (I may take one on holiday if i don't sell them by January)

This one is my favorite, the striped ribbon is gorgeous and was in an old nescafe jar full of old trims that i picked up at my favorite Bric-a-brac shop in Niddrie called Sorelle. Worth a visit if you're down that way.

The dresses are $55 each and i am happy to post anywhere in Australia, please call or email for payment options.

Sorry Sold Out - More available soon, must get busy

Blessed...

The local church owns the building which houses My Poppet.
Does that mean that God is my landlord?
HeHe...I crack myself up sometimes...

The shop will close Melbourne Cup day, yay! A girl needs a day off once in a while.
Have a good weekend

Vintage fabric...how much can a girl have?

Now that's a good question...hundreds of meters maybe?
Surely that can't be healthy. More than I could ever use...possibly?
As i mentioned, Pei Pei dropped past last week, we had a nice long chat during which she tried to convince me suggested I make some packs up and sell them at the shop.
Thoughts anyone...
