Time flies...

when you have a big fair in less than 1 week, a list of things to do and make as long as your arm and a 3 month old baby. Thank goodness for those horrible plastic swingy contraptions that play 'pop goes the weasel' ad nauseum and work like a sleeping pill for babies. Swore I'd never use the thing, but desperate times call for desperate measures!
So anyway, if you're in Melbourne next week, visit me here to see the fruit of all my hard labour

Best Buds...

Looks like Miss Emma has found a new friend...I whipped up Mr Mousy from some felt scraps that were left over from owl making. I was really in the mood for some hand stitching, and over a couple for nights this cute little rodent was born. I'm quite pleased at how he turned out because he is my 1st attempt at a 3D softie without a pattern, just freehand cutting.
Maybe I'll attempt another at some stage but am really to busy now with finishing (and starting) products for Magnolia Square...Emma is napping so I'd better get cracking!

BAS, PAYG, GST...Oh! the horror!!

...if you run a small business you'll know just what I've been going through these last few weeks. With a baby it's hard enough to find a little bit of time out for yourself, even harder when you feel the looming deadlines of the dreaded ATO in the back of your mind.
But now I can breathe easy knowing that all my book work is up to date (at least till the end of the month) and I can spend any free time I have being creative and productive without feeling guilty. (Although I still feel guilty that I can't always give Emma my undivided attention, but that's a whole different kettle of fish!)
The next few weeks are going to be fun but super busy. My Poppet will be participating at this lovely event at the Malvern town hall in August, so my little fingers will be worn down to the bone creating fantastic things exclusively for the event. The theme for the My Poppet stall will be 'Spring Carnival', so get ready for a riot of colour! Will post some sneak peeks soon...

Thank you Jen...

Emma has been totally spoilt by the lovely Jen, a friend and customer of My Poppet. Here is just a taste of the lovely handmade goodness Emma received.Several lovely large bibs that have come in very handy (Emma is quite the chucker!) I think this is her favorite as she is giving it a cuddle. This one is also very nice. Beautiful handmade toys by BadSkirt (ball) and Ollie Rose (bunny rattle). The most beautiful bonnet I have ever seen from Kinchi, can't wait for an outing so she can wear it.
And 2 lovely dresses, one from this lovely Tassie girl, the other i can't remember (Jen can you remind me)(edit- here it is from these creative gals), a top by Cherry Stew, a singlet by Pinikity, and a super practical (and pretty) set of wash cloths.
Wow...how lucky are we...

Holly Hobbie...

Look what I made...
with this fantastic vintage Holly Hobbie fabric. I've been coveting it for a couple of years now, waiting for the right project to come along to do it justice. I think this smock top is just perfect for it.
This one and another 2 just like it for sale at the shop, be quick or miss out!

Speaking of kettles...

The kettle in the last post reminded me of my favorite picture of my kitchen in my old apartment. I love how the orange enamel contrasts with the green wall. It was always so bright and warm on winter afternoons when the sun light streamed in through the lounge room windows.I really miss my old place, but unfortunately small cosy apartment + crying baby = unhappy neighbours.
Now we are in our new home, where Emma will grow up and have more room to move. I'm yet to put my mark on it as home decorating seems to be the last thing on my 'to do' list at the moment. The first job to tackle is Emma's room...will post pictures as we go...

BTW, what do you think of the new widget at the bottom of my posts, you know "you might also like", too busy or a good way to catch up on older stories? I'm still not sure...
