Monsters can be pirates too!

Lots of rain (and therefore lack of customers) really got my creative juices flowing yesterday. From doodles to sketches ... had some green t-shirts kicking about waiting for the perfect project and da da! Isn't he the cutest monster that thinks he's a pirate that you've ever seen.
I liked him so much i made another 2 just like him. He is a reverse applique which goes on behind the fabric that you then cut away, I think I'll have to make some more friends for him in the new year.

Disaster!

Apparently the pencil case people have not been receiving my e-mails, and with only a few days till Christmas I've been patiently waiting for a parcel to arrive, but one hasn't even been coming!
Luckily they will be working through the night to get the orders ready and will be express posting in the morning, fingers crossed everything will be ok.
So it you're waiting on a pencil case, sorry about the delay, friday is the magic day.
Makes me wonder how many other e-mails are not getting through?

No Poppet in the post this week, its taking a break till the new year.

Surprises and other nice things...

I received a couple of wonderful surprises today that got me right into the Christmas spirit.

Firstly a parcel arrived full of goodies from Dick & Dora. Thanks so much guys, you really didn't have to but I'm glad you did, your ornaments are beautiful and I will cherish them for many Christmases to come. Totally unexpected and brightened my day up immediately. If you want to buy some of these you'll have to go to Kids in Berlin, Victoria st North Melbourne. Mine are definitely not for sale

Then Jhoanna popped in for a visit and i had the pleasure of meeting her gorgeous little girls. And, she brought me a little gift of my most favoritest chocolate ever KoKo Black...mmmm...no picture because some of it was my lunch and the rest i have to hide so the big mouse in my house doesn't eat it all. (conveniently he doesn't read the blog so he won't even know i have it, hee hee!) Thanks again Jhoanna, you really really didn't have to.

And then...a last minute delivery of toys...brought to you by the letter K...

Kaleidoscope...

Kewpie dolls...

I will be opening every day until Christmas with extended hours on the weekend 10am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday and until 5.30pm on Christmas Eve.
Then I will close the shop from Christmas day until the 5th of February for a well earned rest (being your own boss has its advantages)

Parking madness...

Where are all my customers today? Probably trying to get a park at Chadstone, suckers!!! When will you ever learn. Christmas time, shopping centers and retaining your sanity just don't mix!
Plenty of parks out the front of My Poppet, I'll save you a spot.

Life on the farm...

Old Miss Cinti had a farm...ee-ei-ee-ei-oh
And on that farm she had some chickens...come on sing along...ee-ei-ee-ei-oh!
With a peck, peck, here and a peck, peck, there...you get the idea...
I love this pecking chicken game, a little ball swings around and pulls on strings to make the chickens peck, an oldie but a goodie...my mother loves it, reminds her of her childhood...

Just arrived this morning, Ikaboo Night Lights, Rechargeable LED lights stay cool to the touch and are portable. 8 Great characters to choose from - check them out here

Too much on my plate...

This week has been so hectic, a million things to do and no days off till Christmas...Help!
Do you every get that feeling when everything is so overwhelming that you don't know what to do first because your brain feels like scrambled egg? That's me. I think it's because I'm another year older tomorrow and I don't really cope with birthdays very well...

Bought myself a present from Kids in Berlin in North Melbourne, they have some really beautiful handmade jewellery pieces by really talented independent designers.
I fell in love with this brooch by Dick & Dora. Its just so perfectly simple...I had to have it.

The week so far...

-put up my version of a Christmas Tree (these are the full extent of my decorations that i own, so no decorations at home this year- my sister calls me a Scrooge!)

-Shop Christmas window (I don't do tinsel)

-Poppet in the post

-Lots of new stock

-Trying to finish some Cinti does Vintage wholesale orders

-Off to a very big graduation ceremony tonight

-markets

-in-laws

See, no time for birthdays...

and before I forget

Happy Hanukkah to all my Jewish customers and readers

10 Favourite Things at My Poppet I recently found myself with a bit of spare time (unbelievable!) in Melbourne and discovered My Poppet. I got chatting to Cintia Gonzalez, who as it turns out is the designer behind the Vintage baby accessory label Cinti does Vintage. After many years of selling her label at craft markets throughout Melbourne, Cintia opened a store a few months ago and is constantly sourcing great Australian made children’s products. Just like Living Creatively, Cintia is proud to be able to give independent designers and craftspeople a platform to promote and sell their work. It was hard to pick only 10 favourites but here they are!

1 Retro Ray Mozzie by Edee Hand made from an original pattern by Melly & Me
2 Violet & Rose Pencil roll
3 Cinti does Vintage Vintage fabric baby bloomers
4 Cinti does Vintage Wool felt baby booties
