If you like cool retro styling and a quirky sense of humor, these are the labels for you... These 'Ants in your Pants' pants by Snoffs have got to be my favorite...And if you can't get to the store, you can find them on Poppet in the Post...

Going viral...

So I've finally caved and started a facebook page for the store. Was encouraged by my fresh faced shop girl Abi. A pretty young thing, very gen Y, softly spoken and very friendly. You can meet her and say 'Hi' on Fridays and Saturdays. Anyway, I digress...
the point is if you do the whole facebook thing, you can now become a 'fan' of My Poppet. That way even if you don't have time to read the blog you won't miss out on the goings on in the store.
Facebook fans will also get special discounts and deals.
It's important to share us with all of your friends, and friends of friends etc...so, as Abi puts it, 'we can go viral!' in a good way i hope...lol...

Monsieur Rat...

If you only buy one book this year about rats or moustaches, or moustaches on rats...this is the one.
A quirky, humorously written and beautifully photographed tale that will put a smile on both kids and adults faces...

Monsieur Rat loves his moustache. When an advertisement for Mega Moustache tonic catches his eye, he begins to dream about having the glossiest, silkiest, most brilliant moustache in the world. But as everyone knows, the best laid plans of mice and men…
When his moustache begins to grow uncontrollably, Monsieur Rat sets off on a journey to find the elusive Dr Mustako, expert in ‘moustachology’.
Now available on Poppet in the Post...

Shop 4 kids...and other nice stuff

Apparently some bits and pieces from My Poppet were featured in the new edition of Shop 4 kids mag...I'm yet to see it as i haven't been out of the house for a couple of days, but once I get hold of one (and find out what's featured) I'll pop those bits for sale on Poppet in the Post ASAP. In the meantime please feel free to browse the online shop anyway, you might find something else that takes your fancy. I'm coveting these at the moment...
Just a reminder that the winter sale is still on, most of the smaller sizes have gone but if you're after 5's and 6's especially in boys stuff, there is still some quite good bargains to be had.

I {heart} my customers...Little Circus Design

Wow, how lucky am I to have super lovely and extremely talented customers! I ran into Madeleine yesterday at the shop, she was nice enough to write a lovely post about My Poppet on her blog Little Birdsville. She modestly mentioned in passing that she was an artist. Well, have I just been blow away by her beautiful work! Here are a couple of examples of some limited edition prints that I must have for Emma's room.

You can see and purchase Madeleine's work on here website - Little Circus Design

PrintSpace...

My Poppet is pleased to announce that we now stock some beautiful artwork and cards by Melbourne design duo Print Space. The artworks are archival quality giclee prints and are all hand signed by Mara and Nick.
I've bought these for Emma's room...

The penguins for the stairs...
But my absolute all time favorite is Flower Hat Bob, heelarious! Bob is at the shop at the mo, but I'm tempted to take him home too.Not only are these prints super cool, they are very reasonably priced as well. Starting at only $20 they make a lovely newborn or birthday present.
But what about framing costs? Well I'm glad you asked. I've done a deal with our local framer, so My Poppet customers can get a great deal on framing as well.

Haberdashery...

Is it just me or is any one else obsessed with amassing buttons, thread, elastic, braids, bias binding, zippers etc...My love of it started as a little girl, I used to sort my mum's button tin into size, colours etc...she has a huge stash which I've slowly been 'borrowing'. I rarely go for new stuff though, for me it's vintage all the way. I always snaffle up the little bits and pieces that lurk in those little plastic draws at op-shops, that way, when inspiration strikes I'm likely to have most (if not all) of the materials required on hand. Often the habby inspires the project, not the other way around. It's rewarding to use something that was laying idle in someones garage or drawer, an economical and sustainable way to sew/craft, what's not to like?

Magnolia Square...

Exhausted from standing for 3 days straight...forgotten what hard work markets are
Had a great response to the stall and all the lovely things in it...personally I think it looked smashing!
Nearly sold out of cups...a few green and blue still available online
Got to catch up with a few regular customers that I've missed since I being on 'Maternity leave'...thanks for visiting
All in all, worth every second of hard work...
Will put some leftover bits on Poppet in the Post when I get a chance...for all of you out of towners
